On May 2, the Greater Frisco Chapter (GFC) of Jack and Jill of America, Inc celebrated its 2nd Annual National Black Family Day. The purpose of the event was to acknowledge the solidarity and culture of the African American family.
This year we celebrated at the Warren Sports Complex by playing family games, eating, dancing, and enjoying each other’s company. We acknowledged the Fathers in our organization by allowing each of our children to share one thing that makes their Father special. As the wise man says, “out of the mouths of babes...” The program was very touching and heartfelt!
For our community service project, each GFC child was asked to bring swimming gear for less fortunate children where proceeds were donated to the Captain Hope’s Kids, an organization that aims to better the lives of homeless children in North Texas. Captain Hope’s Kids representative spoke with conviction about how the small gesture of our children will impact others in a tremendous way.
Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is a family organization whose aim is providing cultural, social, civic and recreational activities that stimulate and expand the mind of African American children.
